Xerox DocuCentre SC2020

Xerox has launched a new multi-function printer meant for small and medium business enterprises, armed with a fast printing engine and a bunch of time-saving features.

The DocuCentre SC2020 is Xerox’s entry level A3 offering that is built as a robust SMB solution in the color segment (which accounts for 30-35% of the category). It’s the company’s first product that’s build with same LED laser printing engine but with a wide array of features at a comparatively economical pricing.

DocuCentre SC2020 can print in color at speeds of 20ppm with first page out time of less than 11 seconds. A wide variety of media is supported – from the normal A4 (optimized for acidic paper common in India) to cardstock/brochure/glossy of up to 200gsm thickness.

It has one input and one bypass tray with 250 and 100 page capacity respectively; and an option to add a 500-sheet tray. There can be up to 999 copies for a single job. At a print/copy resolution of up to 1200x2400dpi (dots per inch), it doesn’t just look fast but promising on quality.

DocuCentre SC2020 can handle A3 size paper for document, booklet and poster printing or for printing multiple pages on a single sheet (N-up option built-in).

Xerox has launched two variants of the MFP – one that boasts a 110 page duplex auto document feeder (DADF) that can print/copy/scan both sides of the page automatically, and the platen version with simplex printing and no ADF.

With basic copier features of re-sizing, shade-tuning and layout selection accessed from the 4.3-inch touch-screen control panel the DocuCentre SC2020 can inherently Print, Copy, Scan and email, while Fax is optional. It can connect via USB, LAN, and Wireless LAN to print from or scan to, wirelessly or remotely from mobile devices to dedicated server addresses where document sharing can take place. The company also has dedicated document-management software called the DocuWorks for simplified editing and sharing of documents.

The MFP uses an EA-Eco Toner, the toner density of which can be calibrated in three settings to reduce toner consumption: light, lighter and lightest, based on individual print requirements. Moreover, it uses a different material with low melting point that helps keep the fusing temperature 20°C less than conventional toners Xerox uses thereby reducing electricity consumption and heat generation of the device.

The DocuCentre SC2020 is available at a launch offer of approximately Rs 1, 30,000 plus taxes for the Platen version and Rs 1, 50,000 plus taxes for the DADF version.
