This EV Startup is Focusing on Earth Free Motor Manufacturing
A Make-In-India EV Startup, Tsuyo Manufacturing is involved in designing, developing, and manufacturing EV components like Electric Motor, Drive, Converter and OBD Power Electronic Design and solutions. The company manufactures electric motors with brand, “TSUYO Motor” and compatible drives for different automobile application in EV like two wheelers, three wheelers, four wheelers, commercial trucks and off-road vehicles also. Tsuyo provides product range from 1.0KW to 600.0KW solutions. During a conversation with Nitisha; Vijay Kumar, Director, Tsuyo Manufacturing Pvt Ltd talks about Tsuyo’s specialty and its future plans.

TSUYO is a Make-In-India initiative for designing, developing and manufacturing indigenous electrical motors and compatible controllers for varied application category in EV application like Two-Wheeler, Three-Wheeler and Four-Wheeler category while not limited to on-road but also extending solutions for off-road applications like Electric Farm tractors, Mining Dump Trucks and Construction mining equipment like Backhoe Loaders and Wheel Loaders. Company is engaged in producing different motor topology like BLDC, PMSM and AC Induction motors ranging from 1KW to 250.0KW solutions. TSUYO is also extending holistic solutions like smart controllers with Wire harness solutions and e-axle and suitable gearboxes and axle solutions. TSUYO is also bringing many futuristic solutions through strategic technological partners like LvKon, CETL, IIT-Delhi, Investor-M/s RKFL and other academic institutions like NIAMT and VNIT Nagpur.
Recently, the company has collaborated with IIT Delhi. What will be the next agenda?
Company has done technology tie up with IIT Delhi (FITT) and also few collaborations along with IIT Delhi and MeiTY, corroborating over various frontier technologies and developing few platforms 100% indigenous product from scratch for Indian OEMs considering Indian geographical constraint and users specific custom solutions. Company is also doing research on various new materials to bring in motor components as a use of newer and robust material replacement to the conventional material use and also improvising the overall performance and application.
How Tsuyo differentiate itself with other EV companies?
TSUYO differentiates on many fronts like unique usage of advance material, process innovation, in-house design, customization around various application specific usage and also bringing a holistic solution around powertrain comprising not only motors, controllers while also Wire harness, VCU, DC-DC Converter, axle, Gearbox, e-axle and other to make an integrated best performing platform solutions to all kind of OEMs
TSUYO is working and developing Conversion kit for Three-Wheeler and four-wheeler and launching soon the indigenously designed and developed proven and approved KIT for vehicles like TATA ACE, Bada-Dost, Swift Dezire, 6m Bus, Mining Dump trucks and Wheel loaders.
What steps the company has been taking to promote its products worldwide?
Company is launching various solutions in international market specially Philippines, Nepal, Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh and Thailand for various application. Tsuyo has an established customer base in these countries and also bringing unique Platform like Chassis design with integrated powertrain and battery solutions as BaaS and Swapping through their partner TAQNAL energy.
According to you, what kind of challenges EV industry is facing and what will be your focus key areas?
Challenges are many while there are key things towards the local components availability like Wire harness inputs, laminations, right and genuine vendors, new material development, government key focus towards components manufacturer and related incentives for scale and grow. Nevertheless, skilled resources are another challenge to equip the right skilling for scaling and extending a decent after sales support and ecosystem
How the company has been adhering to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
Achieving sustainable goals, TYSUYO has embarked its product journey through extending a comprehensive manufacturing warranty, greener manufacturing processes while manufacturing motors and usage of greener and recyclable material. Moreover, TSUYO is extensively working on motor technologies to support rare earth free Motor manufacturing and providing a cost effective and less important dependency against the components.
What are your marketing plans for the year 2023-24? Kindly elaborate.
Our marketing plans revolves around our new product, new capex investment, world class manufacturing set up, new technology launches and digitization of process. Tsuyo is going to be part of various EV expo, Product technology leadership forum, Thought leadership and other.
How was the year 2022 in terms of business and what will be your upcoming announcement or product launch in this year?
The year 2022 was overwhelming and we demonstrated 300% revenue growth over last year and this year we have target for 500& growth in revenue with new product introduction in L3 with 18th month warranty with new technology and new smart controllers and also we have prepared our new product services like extending real time monitoring system for our powertrain to enable a real time tracking of motors and controllers which will further boos the after sales , dynamic and faster product upgradation, more visibility for fleet owners through the same. We are also bringing e-axle-based solutions, design services, ODM based solutions, our channel expansion and fulfilment warehouses for our esteem customers. We are also bringing automatic line for our L2 (two-wheeler customer) with 25K monthly capacity and innovative IPM based HUB motors and wiring harness integrated solutions for high wattage solutions. We are also going to put our much-awaited conversion solutions around three-wheeler and four-wheeler solutions. Along with our other stakeholders and partners we are also launching our 6m E-Bus Chassis solution with integrated solutions. Tsuyo is launching solutions for eclectic tractors and mining trucks and also working on Copper Rotor die cast for AC-Induction and motor drive solutions. We have already launched our solutions for Forklift markets and very soon going to augment the product line in this space.
