Accusoft, the document, content and imaging solutions source announced enhancements to its Barcode Xpress software development kit (SDK) for adding barcode recognition capabilities to applications. The enhancements comprise a new binarizer algorithm, significantly improved handling of speckled barcodes, and more.
Via Barcode Xpress, developers can now integrate the most accurate one-dimensional (1D) or two-dimensional (2D) barcode recognition with only a few lines of code, empowering their applications with the ability to detect, read and write more than 36 different 1D and 2D barcodes with unparalleled accuracy.
Applications built with Barcode Xpress can scan more than 1,000 pages per minute while accurately locating and decoding multiple barcodes on each page. The SDK supports 32- and 64-bit .NET, followed by ActiveX, Java and Java ME development environments.
Enhancements included in the free service pack released today embrace a new binarizer algorithm for superior accuracy when reading color and grayscale printed barcodes, plus improved recognition accuracy when reading 1D barcode images marred by printing defects such as white speckle noise. Also featured are performance improvements for the reading of PDF417 stacked linear barcodes, and improved detection of QR codes.
Accusoft from its barrio offers another barcode SDK, Barcode Xpress Mobile, that facilitates developers to be able to build mobile apps that tap the cameras in mobile devices to recognize a wide variety of 1D and 2D barcodes, including QR codes, UPC, postal codes, and now GS1 DataBar codes, all of which are also supported by Barcode Xpress.
