The company offers 5k NPI (New product introductions) each month and RS India supporting over 10k customers across India and ships to over 20k PIN Codes across India. RS Group has nine operating brands; RS Components, Allied Electronics & Automation, RS PRO, OKdo, DesignSpark, IESA, Synovos, Needlers and Liscombe. RS India is part of RS Group plc, a leading global omni-channel industrial product and service solutions provider to engineers who are involved in designing, building and maintaining industrial equipment and operations, safely and sustainably.

More than 1.2 million customers buy a comprehensive range of product and service solutions from us, from over 700,000 industrial and electrical items which we source from 2500 top suppliers across the world. We trade through several channels and send out more than 60,000 packages daily from our 32 operational nations.

RS India has been supporting customers in India for over 28 years and has established itself as a strong player in the B2B space. Our USP of No Minimum Order Value or Order Quantity has made us a preferred partner especially in the R&D, Prototyping, Maintenance & Academia domain. With free doorstep delivery within 4-5 business days, we’ve been servicing customer needs and adding value.

We assist customers across the entire product life cycle, whether it is through technical assistance and innovation during the design phase, increased productivity and time to market during the build phase, or decreased purchasing costs and inventory optimization during the maintenance phase. We provide our clients with specialised product and service proposals that are necessary for their businesses’ smooth functioning saving time and money.

Could you highlight the professional milestones and achievements?

When RS Components started operations in India, in 1994 (nearly 3 decades ago) it was a business model much ahead of its time. My 18-year journey with RS India has been both challenging and extremely satisfying, where we have come a long way transforming the performance of our HSL distribution business, in the B2B domain, through multiple turnaround management initiatives.

In a fragmented unorganised market like India, we have demonstrated our capacity to continually outperform with the help of innovation & process improvement in our particular business model. We have a long history of providing exceptional product quality, a broad selection of products, quick delivery, and unparalleled customer services to our customers.

A receptive market with an opportunity to work with a wide spectrum of customers across various industries & technologies has fuelled an inherent passion & determination to take RS India to greater heights.

What are the USPs of the brand and India/Global footprint?

We have operations in 32 countries and a network of 14 distribution centres across the world. We work with over 2,500 suppliers for our stocked product range and deliver to over 1.2 million customers worldwide, shipping over 60,000 parcels daily. Our customers range from small local single site businesses through to multi-site global companies. We provide product and service solutions that help our customers design, build and maintain industrial equipment and operations, safely and sustainably.

Kindly throw some light on the recent business achievements (Business expansion, revenue growth, customer acquisition, market share).

We have seen a healthy double-digit CAGR over the last 5 years (pre-covid), which doubled in financial year 2021-22. This 50% growth indicates that the market has realized and is favouring the real value of the RS business model & RS has moved from an emergency supplier to a preferred supplier to all its customers across the country.

Below are a few key pointers for RS India’s growth this year:

  1. Sustaining the 50%+ growth momentum in FY23
  2. Continued focus on key industries like Medical Electronics, Railways, Automotive etc. where we’ve made major in-roads
  3. Extend our advanced procurement solutions (eProc, VMI, TCO etc.) to global customers in India
  4. Aggressive customer acquisition in untapped territories across Tier 2 & 3 cities

What are your company’s five focus areas and expansion plans? Elaborate.

In the coming months, we are focussed on the following;

  1. Working with customers to drive digital transformation in procurement with advanced eProc solutions
  2. Driving innovation with the RS suite of technical software’s for Engineers through DesignSpark and promoting STEM
  3. Supporting R&D across industries, especially small start-ups to push Atmanirbhar Bharat with the RS USP’s (No MOQ/ MOV, latest products, ease of doing business etc.)
  4. Offering a wide gamut of SBC (Single Board Computing) range through OKDO to the Indian engineering community
  5. Enhancing the RS experience in the SAARC region especially Sri Lanka & Bangladesh through dedicated teams/support from India.
