Anritsu & UT Dallas Unveil OpenROADM, IPoDWDM Network at SC24

Anritsu & UT Dallas Unveil OpenROADM, IPoDWDM Network at SC24Anritsu Corporation, in collaborating with the University of Texas at Dallas, showcases the latest network system at the Supercomputing Conference 24 (SC24) on November 17-22, 2024, in Atlanta, USA. This system combines OpenROADM*1 for flexible network configuration and IPoDWDM*2 for high- capacity transmission, and demonstrates an orchestration system to control the entire network and monitor network quality. Anritsu is contributing to system development focusing on future automatic autonomous network configuration.

The network is controlled by the YANG data model developed by the OpenROADM MSA and The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), which promoting internet engineering standards as a vendor-independent control system, managed by the UTD orchestration system.

Two Anritsu MT1040As with 400G OpenROADM transceivers will be placed via an OpenROADM system Add/Drop line in our exhibition. These MT1040A testers provide IP and optical transport layer quality monitoring data to the orchestration system setting the communication channels in a network environment with realistic traffic loads. Consequently, the network system can change the network channels and ROADM routes based on quality data.

The UTD OpenLab verifies the hardware and software interoperability with the open specifications published by the OpenROADM MSA, issues the verifies labels to the devices that pass the interoperability verification.

Product Outline

Network Master Pro MT1040A

The MT1040A is a B5 size 400G handheld tester with excellent expandability and operability. It is a touch-panel operated field measurement instrument equipped with a 9-inch screen. It supports multi-date interfaces from 10M up to 400G as well as 400ZR/ZR+ test functions.

Technical Terms

*1 OpenROADM

Architecture for realizing interconnection and interoperability between each functional part of an optical transmission network in a multi-vendor environment. OpenROADM MSA group promotes Open API models and definition of optical standards.

*2 IPoDWDM

Abbreviation for IP over DWDM technology for direct transport of IP packets using DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) high-speed optical transport technology. Incorporating transceivers with optical transmission technology into IP routers integrates the IP and optical transport layers helps to reduce costs.
