Avago expansion project attains new heights
Avago Technologies’ 192,372-square-foot west annex expansion project has achieved a major milestone. In excess of 200 field workers and representatives from the design-build project team of JE Dunn Construction, Mazzetti, BURKETTDESIGN, and Martin/Martin along with Avago personnel, celebrated the topping out of the core and shell structure late last month.
Topping out signifies the placement of the last piece of structural steel and recognizes the project’s significant safety achievement of 185 days without a lost time accident.
Unique to this facility, that will ultimately house clean room and MEP support space, is its cheese slab elevated deck. Comprised of 16 inch holes situated every 24 inches on square, the design of this structure facilitates the “clean” environment required for Avago’s manufacturing process. This clean environment is maintained by way of the massive amount of airflow which is filtered through HEPA filters on a continuous cycle.
