Canon launches 9 professional cameras for Indian market
Canon India has unveiled a complete range of 9 professional video cameras (PRO-Video) with advanced features like full HD recording. The products have been categorised under the XA and XF series. The nine models include the XA10, XA20, XA25, XF100, XF105, XF200, XF300 and XF305. These cameras are light in weight and compact in design and are priced from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 4.25 lakh.
Commenting on the launch, Dr. Alok Bharadwaj, Executive Vice President, Canon India Pvt. Ltd, said, “We are excited with the entry into this new business segment which has a market size of Rs. 500 crores, growing at 40% annually. Currently, the professional video cameras market in India is estimated to be around 30,000 units a year. Out of this, the palm held video segment is estimated to be 9,000 units a year. Canon India expects to garner 15 per cent market share of the palm category within 2 years. The introduction of the professional video cameras which we call as PRO-DV is focused at emerging professional video recording culture in India, particularly for event videography professionals like weddings, Electronic News Gathering professionals, Documentary film makers, TV Show recordings etc. We are happy to see growing momentum in TV viewership, multiple channels proliferation, news gathering and wedding videography as, it will help us grow the Pro-DV category in India, where Canon is already present in multiple domains.”
He further added, “Canon had launched 4 models in CINEMA EOS product group for high end cinematography applications where we have achieved 200 installed bases in last 2 years. These new domains of cinema & Pro-DV have promising applications for growth”.
With this all new PRO-DV range, the company aims to engage in various marketing and consumer engagement initiatives, such as, specialized events and workshops for professionals across India. It will further provide guidance and technical training and assistance in media schools and universities for students and other professionals. Moreover, Canon is also working hard on building up a good relationship with the customers by providing seamless after sales service.
