CeBIT India, STPI Together to Foster the Mid-Sized IT Sector in India
CeBIT India has asserted that it has jinhands with STPI (Software Technology Parks of India), an autonomous society under Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to promote the Software & Electronics Hardware industry in the country.
The alliance will enable 100 MSME companies from across the country to showcase themselves at the STPI Make-in-India pavillion at CeBIT India, which is scheduled to take place from October 29-31, 2015 in Bangalore.
In their first year of partnership, there were over 5000 business deals handled and 1300+ prospective customers met. Close to 300 deals were signed at the CeBIT 2014 STPI pavillion alone last year. In 2015, the benefits of partnering are amplified, as 10 of these MSMEs will be chosen to attend CeBIT Hannover 2016, thereby widening their access to global business opportunities.
Additionally, STPI will hold its annual ‘STPI IT Export Awards’ STPI, Govt. of India, to award the top performing IT companies of Karnataka for their performance during the FY 2014 – 15 on 29th October 2015.
Elaborating upon the partnership, Mehul Lanvers-Shah, Managing Director, Hannover Fairs India Pvt Ltd. said “We strongly believe that the growth of the MSME sector in India is a critical for the social and economic progress of our country. Last year we successfully partenered with STPI to spur growth of the MSMEs and this year we plan to take this association to an international level by hosting India winners to CeBIT Hannover 2016. Supporting Prime Minister’s vision Digital India vision, CeBIT India 2015 will provide an ideal platform to 100 MSMEs under the STPI umbrella to connect with global industry leaders in the electronics and software ecosystem.”
“Feedback from last year has been extremely encouraging with over 95% of the MSME companies participated in the year 2014 CeBIT event have expressed their interest in participating in the future events organised by STPI. We are therefore very excited to take forward our association with CeBIT India this year. STPI has been instrumental in promoting the MSME community for over two decades and we have made a significant contribution towards carving a niche for India in the global IT arena. We believe that our partnership with CeBIT will help us further accentuating the growth of MSMEs. Facilitating this would provide truly international experience for our MSME members through a well-recognized brand like CeBIT which promises to create further traction and momentum in the market.” said Dr Omkar Rai, Director General, STPI.
This is the second successive year that the two organizations have come together to boost the MSME sector.
