Cisco appoints Chuck Robbins as its new CEO
Cisco Systems has appointed Chuck Robbins as its new chief executive officer (CEO). He will succeed current CEO and chairman of the board John Chambers. Chambers will assume the role of executive chairman on 26 of July and will continue to serve as chairman of Cisco’s board.
Robbins, who joined the company in 1997, was also elected to the board of directors of Cisco, effective from May 1, 2015.
Robbins most recently served as Cisco’s senior vice president of worldwide operations, leading company’s global sales and partner team. He also executed many of the company’s investments and strategy shifts like building the partner program, creating company’s strategy for the commercial business segment, and sponsoring the security and collaboration businesses at the executive level.
Cisco’s current CEO Chamber who will assume the role of executive chairman, will devote his time to support Robbins and engaging with customers and governments around the world, with an effort on leading Cisco’s role in country digitization.
