Comcast’s deal aimed at Time Warner Cable left Charter out in the cold
Comcast Corp. from its quarter may seem like what may be called as a Proverbial “white knight” to Time Warner Cable, but the resource persons at Charter Communications probably consider it more of a juxtaposed “snake in the grass!”
Hypothesis kept at bay for a moment or two, Charter, which from its barrio the previous month had made an unsolicited bid for Time Warner Cable, had been talking with Comcast Corp. about joining its efforts, people close to both companies ratify. Charter even offered to sell Comcast some of Time Warner Cable’s East Coast properties, counting a valuable system serving the New York City.
Granting the fact that Time Warner Cable rejected Charter’s bid; it was still making a thrust. Prior this week Charter even unveiled a slate of directors it wanted to nominate to Time Warner Cable’s board looking forward to a proxy fight for control of the company. Charter’s prerogative as such here was that- the Enterprise was also literally on tenterhooks to have Comcast seam its endeavours.
But then again Comcast, if the developments on the cards are at all to be taken account of, was talking separately to Time Warner Cable even as it entertained discussions with Charter. The minute the talks with Charter fell apart as regards the edifice of their partnership, Comcast and Time Warner Cable then put their negotiations saga into fifth gear.
