Communications and IT minister unveils eGreetings portal

Ravi Shankar Prasad the Communications and IT minister has unveiled the eGreetings portal as the digital India initiative. This aims to foster an eco-friendly method for sending greetings and wishes by government ministries and officials to colleagues and friends. The portal is launched on the occasion of Independence Day and consists of collection of designs made by different made by the people.

As reported by PTI Prasad congratulated the IT department and all the officers on the idea of this portal. He further said that, this is basically in consonance with the larger commitment of the Prime Minister to ensure that there is a proper IT revolution in India followed by connectivity. He also added that this will provide the boost to the internet connectivity and will increase cooperation between the people of the country. He also feels that it would be great if the people of India will use this service as its connects the nation digitally.

The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY) Secretary R S Sharma stated that the department got total 3,572 entries for greeting designs and 14 were shortlisted from them. And these 14 entries will be awarded with a cash prize in order to encourage the people to participate and contribute more designs for the website. Moreover, the portal also consists of the quotes of PM Modi which have to be included in the greeting.

To send the greeting, the users first have to register to the website. Under the Digital India initiative the government aims to connect the people of India. The program will ensure broadband connectivity to the remote areas of the country.
