SE Asia Data Center Event Looks at Software-Defined Everything

Asia Data Center

Hyper-convergence, disruption and open-source data centers get top billing at DCD Converged in Singapore

This year’s DCD Converged conference explores how software defined network, storage and data-driven infrastructure can combine to deliver more resilient and autonomic IT services, now commonly referred to as the Software Defined Data Center.

With the industry recent approach towards the Zettabyte era, the quantum pace of innovation within the data center and cloud eco-systems continues to put end-users and operators under pressure to adopt the right solutions for their businesses. This requires a more holistic understanding of component parts and a unified approach to everything ‘north’ and ‘south’ of the rack.

The conference to witness experts of Nutanix, Alcatel-Lucent, Juniper, VMware, Huawei and many other leading-edge technology companies sharing their vision of the future alongside many of the regions’ major end-users on the DCD Converged stage, 15th/16th September at the Marina Bay Sands, a main feature of Singapore Data Center Week 2015.

Citing on this year’s Conference Goals, George Rockett, CEO, DatacenterDynamics said, “As the Internet of Things, smart cities, big data and cloud drive the IT industry forward into unchartered territory, it is vitally important to not forget the engine that powers them – the data center.” “DCD has transformed over the last four years to become a truly holistic data center event that covers the whole IT stack as well as the mission critical services and engineering part. We are creating a collaborative environment where the many professional disciplines that touch the data center within large scale operators and end-users can come together to find cross-stack solutions.”

Open Source Data Center Explored

StackingIT, an all-new knowledge component to our conference tracks will focus on the open-sourcing of the data center and the potential disruption of moving from proprietary to non-proprietary frameworks for technology development and acquisition. Steve Helvie, international VP of the Open Compute Foundation will, for the first time in SE Asia, be sharing the work of the community.

Cole Crawford, CEO of Vapor IO, a new technology start-up born of the open-source data center movement and recently touted by IDC as one of the top 10 cloud companies to watch, asserts, “There’s no doubt that the data center is overdue for massive disruption – and the changes that hit will be about performance, efficiency and cost.” Cole will be leading a plenary panel on day one of the conference and giving a technology keynote on day two.

DCD Converged stage is all to kick-off on 15th/16th September at the Marina Bay Sands, a main feature of Singapore Data Center Week 2015.
