Dell aims to expand its Chennai manufacturing unitDell one of the leading computer manufacturers is all set to expand its manufacturing unit in the country. The senior officials of Dell have communicated their interest in the expansion to the IT and telecom minister on India.

As per the PTI report, Ravi Shankar Prasad after meeting Dell’s Asia Pacific and Japan region president Amit Midha stated that, Dell has a keen interest in electronic manufacturing and wishes to expand its manufacturing facility in Chennai. The part of the expansion will also create a complete ecosystem of components suppliers. The ministry has asked the firm to submit their plans and suggestion for the final decision.

The company has spent $30 million on the manufacturing facility. The firm believes that the demand for IT hardware in the country around $13.3 billion. Prasad said that, Dell has 27,000 employees in the country. The firm also wants to work for the Digital India initiative.
