DoT extended permit period to 3 years

The telecom industry is on a boom and opportunities and revenues are pouring in from different angles. The Department of Telecom has extended the time period permit to sell international SIM cards from one year to three years. These SIM cards are often purchased by the people who are travelling abroad.

Presently, there are 70 companies in the country who provide these SIM cards. These companies sell international SIM cards in India in order to use it outside the country. As reported by PTI, DoT in a circular stated, “The No Objection Certification (NOC) shall be issued initially for a period of three years and shall be renewed on the request of company for further period of three years.”

Prior to this announcement, the companies that are selling or renting the SIM cards required NOC every year for the purpose.
