Stating or defining it, as the abbreviation suggests, this part of IoT deals with Industrial applications with the same nature of technology but in this case, to ease production processes, automating machines and have more clarified results. IIoT is primarily based on the interaction between sensors that control production operations in processing raw materials. IIoT is noted to transform many big industries which it is already doing, including manufacturing, oil and gas, agriculture, mining, transportation and healthcare.

IIoT is said to be the backbone of Industry 4.0 or Manufacturing 4.0 concepts. Hence this brings massive criticality and scrutiny unlike IoT. In simple words, when companies or industries opts to transform their business processes and production facilities etc it’s a towering methodology to bring the decision-maker to consent. For example, automating an automobile plant is critical wherein, communication and data acquisition, networking and security is kept on foremost check. Many companies are today heading towards IIoT as CIOs, CEOs & CTOs has undermine the potential of IIoT. IIoT for Industry 4.0 surely opens up the gamut of opportunities and across the globe with better understanding of evolving technologies(cloud, AI, ML, sensors) it is set to quantify at a massive level.

The two parallel yet different technologies have their own ways of behaving and working applications. Both have the same standard protocol. The origin of the term Industrial IoT was more of enabling technology for digital transformation.
The Parameters Differentiates IoT vs IIoT
Experts note that Industrial IoT solutions, in mission-critical operations, must support fault tolerance, or resilience capabilities in its design. From a loss of sensors to a loss of connectivity, industrial IoT systems and architectures must compensate for in-use failures, and still be able to satisfactorily complete its processes and operations.
