Ericsson bags Vodafone India’s solution payment contract

Ericsson

Ericsson has entered into a five year contract with the telecom major Vodafone India. As part of the contract Ericsson will install its new charging system for Vodafone. This new charging system will include services such as flexible refill, community charging and retail time balance notifications along with the other voice and data offerings for prepaid users. This will also enable the customers to adjust their plans according to their needs and enhance the overall consumer experience. Moreover, the operator will also be able to deliver personalized offers to individual consumers by understanding their service consumption patterns.

As per the agreement, Ericsson will be deploying its new charging system in five new circles of Uttar Pradesh (W), Uttar Pradesh (E), Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, in addition to Mumbai and Maharashtra circles. This installation will ensure convergence across payment methodologies and devices and will also allow Vodafone to activate improved data charging via mobile broadband charging in the future. Along with this the solution also provides computing platform that can process almost double the traffic compared to the legacy solution. This deal will also help in saving the space and energy requirements of the datacentre.

Ericsson has been associated for long time with Vodafone, in 2010 the telco chose Ericsson as the 3G HSPA hardware, software and related service vendor to equip India’s largest metropolitan cities — Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata with latest HSPA mobile broadband network.
