Fort Lauderdale Airport Leads with R&S QPS Walk2000

Fort Lauderdale Airport Leads with R&S QPS Walk2000Rohde & Schwarz has announced that Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) has awarded a contract with Rohde & Schwarz to procure and deploy up to eight R&S QPS Walk2000 walk-through scanners to screen employees entering the secure area of the airport for metallic and non-metallic threats, weapons and contraband.

Luke Olsen, Rohde & Schwarz USA, Inc. Business Development Manager for Emerging Technologies, said, “It is an exciting time for security technology innovation and the R&SQPS Walk2000 system is one of the most of transformational new products in security screening today. The R&SQPS Walk2000 system delivers proven millimeter wave (mmW) technology and a truly unique and long-awaited walk-through security experience to support the high-volume screening needed by airports to implement employee screening.”

The system provides a simple high-performance walk-through security experience that requires minimal divesting of outerwear unlike other body scanners deployed previously.

The R&S QPS Walk was developed specifically to address high-volume security screening in a wide range of operations requiring rapid and accurate screening for metallic and non-metallic threats, contraband, explosives, drugs, ceramic guns, blades, and other prohibited items. The system offers security operators a very simple user interface and does not require the removal of jackets, belts, shoes, or most other clothing items that slow the screening process. This is particularly important for efficient employee screening to accommodate screening surges, especially during shift changes.

Rohde & Schwarz has again demonstrated its commitment to delivering much-needed innovation to security operations with the launch of the R&S QPS Walk2000. The new R&S QPS Walk2000 security scanner joins a growing portfolio of Rohde & Schwarz security screening technology, including the widely deployed and groundbreaking R&S QPS201, which has been added to the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Qualified Products List (QPL), has achieved certification by aviation regulators and is in use in airport security screening operations around the globe.
