Gartner: Indian public cloud service revenue to reach $638 million
As per a study released by Gartner the Indian public cloud service revenue will reach $638 million by the end of this year. The public cloud service revenue is derived from various market segments which includes cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and software as a service (SaaS). The total expenditure on SaaS will be around $249 million in 2014 and the spending on IaaS will grow by 33 percent with $77 million.
The research firm also states that continuous high rates of spending on cloud services in India through 2018 when the market is expected to reach almost $2 billion. The study highlights that with the increasing use of IT and adoption of cloud services will foster the growth of cloud services in the Indian market. Ed Anderson, research vice president at Gartner, said “Organisations in India see cloud services as a means to develop new applications and support a more effective use of IT budgets.”
A cloud survey conducted by Gartner also shows that the Indian organisations and market prefers public cloud service as compared to the other countries around the world. Presently, 53 percent of the Indian organisations are using cloud services and 43 percent are planning to adopt the service in the coming 12 months.
