Government Initiates a Relieve Proposal for Women
According to a report by UN-Women, due to COVID-19 pandemic the gender and economic inequalities have widened, more women have lost their jobs or businesses (25 per cent of women vs. 21 per cent of men). Women are typically paid less and more vulnerable to losing their jobs in the present circumstances.
Pointing out such topic on a serious manner, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India has proposed an initiative where it is aiming to set up Women Technology Parks. The aim of this call is to attain local self reliance of women for economic re-growth during post COVID-19 scenario.
Preference will be given to rural and peri-urban areas (districts, blocks) in states like Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, Chhatisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, North-Eastern states and aspirational districts having sizable population of reverse migrant women, who have gone to their native villages and would like to empower through
Women Technology Parks.
Proposals are invited online in the prescribed format at the portal from R&D Organizations, Central & State Universities, their attached institutions and other S&T based agencies as per the guidelines and format given.
The proposals should be submitted on or before October 31, 2020 alongwith one set of required documents in soft copy to the Head(SEED).
Department of Science & Technology (DST) was established in May 1971, with the objective of promoting new areas of Science & Technology and to play the role of a nodal department for organising, coordinating and promoting S&T activities in the country.
