Huawei and Etisalat reveal first successful trial of their new OSN9800 and 400G technology


Huawei along with Etisalat has revealed the first successful trial of their new OSN9800 and 400G technology on the commercially available optical transport network (OTN) in UAE. The 400G technology will expand the network capacity which will help the operators in meeting the bandwidth demands of the local users. Along with this the operators will also be able to offer improved fixed-line and broadband services to its customers with great ease.

Esmaeel Alhammadi, Vice President of Network Development, Etisalat foresees this as an opportunity to provide the customers with better services. The 400G technology will support the next-generation transmission technology. Moreover, it will also support and meet the traffic demands coming from the customers.

Alan Wang, President of Huawei Etisalat Global Key Account feels that both the companies come with a common vision of keeping their customers connected on the go with the entire world. With this partnership they aim to access the modern information society and also manage all the other capabilities.

Etisalat is testing various network technologies in order to improve the network modernization across UAE. Both the companies has  also joined hands for conducting trails of 5G mobile broadband services in Middle East and also to do a first-of-its-kind trial of 40Gbps GPON (Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks) fiber network. This trial will provide steadfast and affordable broadband access to businesses and households.
