IBM to essay role as Hutchison’s IT backbone

NEW DELHI: IBM and Hutchison Telecom have announced that IBM will shape the IT infrastructure for Hutchison’s national customer relationship management (CRM) project in India. According to the company sources, with the systems in place, Hutchison’s customer service executives will have access to information on the telecommunications company’s over seven million subscribers across India. The company expects that having the customer information at their fingertips will empower them to provide faster and more responsive services to the clientele, thus improving service levels and customer satisfaction.

The CRM project involves the installation of IBM eServers – four IBM eServer pSeries 690, followed by seven IBM eServer pSeries 630 and four IBM eServer pSeries 615 – as the foundation of the nationwide infrastructure. Running on AIX 5L/Linux, these IBM Unix servers deliver power, reliability and on demand capabilities for worry-free computing.

“We are happy with the professionalism of the IBM team as well as the quality of the IBM eServer pSeries. In our business, we cannot afford any downtime and having the IBM eServers at the heart of our infrastructure gives us peace of mind – knowing that our operations will continue to run like clockwork,” reportedly said, Hutchison India Group CIO Chandra Mohan.
