Indian telecom industry witnesses growth of 10.8 percent

CyberMedia Group has released the Voice&Data Annual India Telecom industry survey 2014. The survey reveals that the industry has witnessed a growth of 10.8 percent over FY 2012-13. Along with this the equipment segment also grew with 11.6 percent as compared to last year. The total amount of revenues generated by the telecom industry for the FY 2013-14 accounts to Rs 429,087 crore compared to Rs 387,298 crore for the previous financial year.

The revenue is the total of the services used by the enterprises and the user services for voice, data and other services fetched collective revenues of Rs 233,793 crore (54 percent of total revenues) while the equipments and solutions including carrier infrastructure, enterprise communications and user communication devices’ revenues amounted to Rs 195,294 crore (46 percent of total revenues). Ibrahim Ahmed the editor of Voice&Data stated that, the telecom industry has witnessed good amount of growth in the both the sectors of infrastructure and services. This highlights that the operators are benefiting from the investments they made by providing seamless services to their customers.

As per the survey the top three telecom service providers of the country for the FY 2013-14 are Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. Moreover the positions of the operators is set to improve with the launch of 4G services and the betterment of 3G services.

Talking about the equipment side, Samsung, Nokia and Indus Towers lead the vendor and solution providers’ community with the top three players contributing a little over 29 percent of the total India Telecom Equipment revenues for FY 2013-14. The vendor’s category is dominated by device manufactures, tower companies and telecom core equipment vendors. Apart from this the vendors’ category highlights the phenomenal growth made by Micromax.
