Indium’s Expert to Present at LED Meets SMT

Indium Corporation has announced that Andreas Karch, regional technical manager and technologist for advanced applications, will present on thermal management at EPP’s specialist forum-LED Meets SMT.

Indium The forum: LED Meets SMT, Karch will be happening at 3:15 p.m. (Germany) on Oct. 21 in Regensburg, Germany.

Optimal temperature windows are becoming increasingly important for the long-term reliable operation of current LED components.

This applies both to temperature ranges during the processing of SMT LEDs and to their operation in the application environment.

Therefore, thermal management in the reflow soldering process and the continuous or boost operation of LED components is increasingly becoming the focus of users.

In Material Technologies for Thermal Management of LED, Karch will examine innovations in the field of solder material technology that enable users to insert SMT LED in the optimum temperature range both during processing and during the operation of the components.

Two of Indium Corporation’s material technologies are particularly effective here: new composite solder alloys – such as Durafuse™ LT – and coated solder materials – including LV2K.

Karch provides technical support on solder paste and preforms, fluxes, and thermal management materials to Indium Corporation’s customers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Karch has more than 20 years of automotive industry experience in PCB and power electronics, including the advanced development of customized electronics. He received an award for developing one of the top 10 innovative patents for automotive LED assembly. Karch is an ECQA-certified integrated design engineer and holds a Six Sigma Yellow Belt.

His thorough understanding of process technologies and project management skills reinforces Indium Corporation’s commitment to providing world-class service to its customers in Europe.

All workshops at LED Meets SMT will take place live on stage; there will be no live-streaming. The number of workshop participants is limited this year.
