Kaspersky Sledgehammers Top Score in AV – TEST’s Independent Testing
Kaspersky Lab declares that its flagship security solution intended for home users, Kaspersky Internet Security 2014, notched the highest possible points in Bi-Monthly Certification November-December 2013 – a testing program run by independent research laboratory AV-TEST. The Kaspersky Lab product shared its top result with one other solution, exceeding 23 competitor products that were also tested.
The testing methodology employed by AV-TEST imitated the use of a security solution on a home computer. The products being tested could engage any anti-malware technologies, counting the ability to query cloud services if this capability was provided by the vendor. The threat collection used in the test included over 19,000 samples. Of these, 110 were samples that had not as yet become extensive at the time of testing and could therefore be used to define how effectually security products protect against the very newest cyber duress.
Kaspersky Internet Security reached an overall test score that stood at 18 points out of 18. The Kaspersky Lab solution counterbalanced all the malicious samples prepared by the testers without ominously affecting computer performance.
Security solutions were tested on a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 – the most recent version of the operating system, which was released by Microsoft in October 2013.
Furthermore, for the duration of November and December AV-TEST assessed security products for corporate users of Windows 8. Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business from its barrio went on to score 17 points out of 18, efficaciously filibustering 100% of malicious samples in the test collection.
“In most cases, the capabilities built into the operating system are not sufficient to safeguard users from cyber threats, which are growing in number every day. Any new platform quickly becomes targeted by cybercriminals. This is why dedicated solutions developed by experienced vendors, such as Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, are needed to provide reliable protection,” mentioned Nikita Shvetsov, Deputy CTO (Research) at Kaspersky Lab.
Independent research organizations often extol Kaspersky Lab products for the high level of protection they provide. A latest example is the Product of the Year status conferred unto Kaspersky Internet Security by AV-Comparatives for excellent testing results all the way through the year 2013.
