Cyber-criminal activities are taking a toll and are increasing day by day. In order to react to these increasing crimes and to devise new methods to combat them the Kerala state police along with Kerala IT Mission, Information Security Research Association and Society for the Policing of Cyberspace is organizing a two day conference. The conference will be held at Kochi on 22 August and will focus on the new ways and methods to counter the cyber-attacks and get hold of the cyber criminals.
As per the official release by the police department, the major topic of discussion at the event would be cyber-crimes against women. It also stated that one of the main reasons for the increasing rate of cyber-crime is the lack of awareness amongst the masses. Further, the current practices highlight that the cyber-crime is set to increase in the coming days. So, the government is taking initiatives in this regard. Moreover, Cyber-crime investigation is a major challenge in Kerala where there are 2.5 crore mobile customers, 30 lakh landline users and 12 lakh internet connections, the release said.
Some of the well know Cyber security experts from the country and abroad will grace the occasion. Along with this, Former President APJ Abdul Kalam will deliver the keynote address. Some of the topics to be discussed at the conference include digital strategies for prevention and detection of crime against women, cyber terror and counter terror in the cyber world.
