Andhra Pradesh to Become First ‘LED State’ by Jan 2019

The Minister said that the government had installed 8 lakh LED street lights in the villages so far and would be reaching the target of 30 lakh lights by December this year. In January, the government would complete the installation of LED lights in every village.

India’s move towards being energy efficient is making progress every day by illuminating the nooks and corners of every rural part in the country. Adding to which, the Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Information Technology, Nara Lokesh declared that Andhra Pradesh would be the first 100% LED state by January 2019.

According to TOI, the minister held a review of the panchayat raj and rural development departments at the Secretariat on Thursday.

Further, the minister said that the government had installed 8 lakh LED street lights in the villages so far and would be reaching the target of 30 lakh lights by December this year. In January, the government would complete the installation of LED lights in every village.

In addition, the minister also talked about the government’s plans to provide digital door numbers in the villages along with the works worth Rs 20,382 crore in the state in the last four years for cement concrete roads, panchayat offices, farm ponds. An additional Rs. 22,000 crore is planned for water grid programme in every village.
