Microchip Unveils 20 Advanced Wi-Fi Products for Industry
Twenty new products have been added to Microchip Technology’s Wi-Fi® lineup. Adding to one of the broadest product portfolios in the industry for wireless connectivity, Microchip now provides high-performance network and link controllers, plug-and-play modules, and Wi-Fi microcontrollers (MCUs) that streamline development and accelerate time to market.
The company’s Wi-Fi solutions are made to accommodate different application requirements and levels of developer expertise. The portfolio includes robust Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) with industrial-level functionality, as well as modules that are regulatory certified in numerous countries and require little programming experience or knowledge of radio frequency (RF).
The Wi-Fi portfolio of Microchip consists of:
- Wi-Fi MCUs are all-in-one devices that integrate dependable wireless connectivity with MCU capability.
- Linux® MPUs can now incorporate Wi-Fi thanks to an SDIO interface.
- An MCU can add wireless connectivity via an SPI interface.
- Plug-and-play modules make it easier to connect wirelessly to the cloud by using a UART interface to convey short text commands from an MCU.
Vice president of Microchip’s wireless solutions business unit Rishi Vasuki stated, “We’ve leveraged that background, along with our comprehensive support ecosystem, to build a portfolio of Wi-Fi products and services that is unmatched in the industry today.” Microchip has been a well-known provider of MCUs for decades.
The most recent PIC32MZ-W1 Wi-Fi MCUs are based on Microchip’s reliable 32-bit MCU series and offer remarkable versatility with advanced analog peripherals like CAN, Ethernet, capacitive touch, and ADC. The new gadgets also have some of the market’s highest General-Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) capacities.
