To commemorate the ethos of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Mphasis announces its roadmap for ‘Digital Accesibility’ which will strategically compile, Comprehensive Accessibility Solutions that include maturity assessment systems, customized learning management, review services for digital assets, consulting & training services and assistive technologies. Partnership with Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) for a Digital Accessibility Initiative (DAI) to:

  • Develop and test accessible applications, products for the community of persons with disabilities

  • Conduct high impact research on Digital Accessibility

Commenting on the development, Ganesh Ayyar, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director, Mphasis said, “We all have a role to play in making this world a better place. This initiative is a step in the direction of leveraging technology to make that happen. Over the years, Mphasis has pioneered various high impact initiatives in the area of physical accessibilities. This is a natural transition to leverage our Digital expertise to enable Digital Accessability.”

“Technology intersects every facet of our lives. Making it accessible for everyone irrespective of any disability is imperative. Being able to leverage technology isn’t something that would be nice someday on a fancy gadget. It’s something we need in the here and now. Organizations must reinvent their digital footprint to be relevant and engaging to all,” said Eric Bridges, Executive Director, The American Council for Blind.

The company has also coupled with The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-B), to support and nurture deserving social enterprises including that of addressing the challenges faced by disabled.

In association with NCPEDP, Mphasis had instituted the ‘Universal Design’ award for individuals and organisations working to create an accessible and barrier-free society for persons with disabilities in the areas of built environment, transport, ICT, services, aids and appliances.

In an effort to transform Bengaluru into a mobility friendly city for persons with disabilities and elderly, Mphasis has partnerd with IIIT-B, incubated India’s first accessible cab service called ‘KickStart Cabs’ with the NGO – ‘Wheels of Change’ to launch  cab service.
