MWC 2021 – Anritsu Frontiers Simplifying Testing Challenges for the Telecom Industry

During the interview, the veteran underlines their focus during this year’s MWC Barcelona 21 and shares a glimpse about their latest test and measurement portfolio targeting and empowering the telecom industry. Anritsu is participating in MWC Barcelona 21 in a virtual model. Can you tell us more about your preparation for this kind of event?

As we all know due to the COVID-19 pandemic many exhibitions and other technology knowledge sharing activities came to a halt in personal appearance mode. Hence industry adopted a new way of information sharing and connecting with each other in past one year. Therefore, we Anritsu decided to participate in MWC2021 virtually.  Virtual participation in MWC Barcelona 2021 will ensure we keep updated the telecom industry with the latest test and measurement solutions to meet testing challenges in this rapidly changing technology world.

Since 5G networks and devices are being rolled out at a massive speed now, how Anritsu is planning to support the industry with its solutions.

Anritsu has been at the forefront always when it comes to the latest technology testing solution.  Anritsu 5G test solutions such as MT8000A (Radio Communication Test Station)  is well accepted and known for their high-quality reliable test results. MT8000A is a new platform for developing 5G communications terminals, chipsets and devices. With support for both signalling and RF tests, this all-in-one platform and can be configured easily for various tests, including RF, protocol, and use-case tests matching the module construction.

For 5G mobile network Installation & Maintenance, Anritsu measurement solutions assure both stable 5G mobile network operations and preventive maintenance, helping support future 5G network innovation. Anritsu Field Master Pro (MS2090A) is an all in one solution having many features such as:

  • 5GNR base station measurement – validate the performance of the gNB base station with essential measurements that are in full compliance with 3GPP TS 38.104 V15, including:
    • frequency error
    • time offset
    • cell/sector ID
    • modulation quality
    • unwanted emissions
    • occupied bandwidth
    • adjacent channel leakage ratio
    • transmitter spurious to 12.75 GHz
    • EIRP
    • synchronization signal block (SSB)
  • 5G coverage mapping – receive a clear representation of the signal strength of 5G transmitters over intended geographic area by continuously measuring RF data – including 5G channel power, EIRP, or RSRP – with results graphically displayed on a digital map or building floor plan.

You seem to have an impressive line-up of live presentations during MWC Barcelona 2021. Can you please briefly let us know what to expect from these live presentations?

Terahertz technology of 6G – June 28 & 30, 14:00 CEST

The constant evolution of communication systems, including future systems beyond 5G, has led to telecom networks operating in the millimeter-wave frequency ranges as more bandwidth and higher data rates are required. Research and development of terahertz band components and devices are now expanding, and new test solutions are required.

5G Network Slicing – June 29 & July 1, 14:00 CEST

As 5G networks are migrating to Stand Alone architecture, so we can expect Network Slicing to be offered by operators, together with Edge computing. Our testbeds show a Smart Factory scenario, where a factory robot arm and inspection camera are linked to an Edge node that provides low latency processing of video and feedback control to the robot arm. By using a 5G Stand Alone network Slice, we can ensure that both the camera and robot have access to dedicated network resources to ensure the required low latency and high bandwidth required.

Anritsu claims that it is already developing technologies and supporting industry on the road to 6G. Can you please let us know on which technology you are currently supporting the industry on 6G?

As a global leader in telecom test and measurement solutions, we keep pace with the industry and develop our solutions to meet industry demand. We feel Terahertz technology will play a key role in 6G. 6G Specification, standardization is in the initial process and may take some more time and we are collaborating closely with the industry leaders.
