With a strive to enhance the healthcare systems of Indonesia, NEC Indonesia announces that its first state-of-the-art Bedside Nursing (BSN) IT solution will be integrated in the selected hospitals.
Fostering its “Solutions for Society,” the solution will address the hospitals need of catering safe, efficient and affordable healthcare.
NEC’s BSN system is an Android-based scalable, handy and user friendly application which works on the HIS platform enables nurses to use a mobile device, such as a tablet, to retrieve real time data on patient vitals and order information from the Hospital Information System (HIS), thereby assisting them to provide more personalized and effective patient care.
The BSN solution key features:
– Patient Safety: Nurses can view orders from an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and verify them before administering any care. During order verification, nurses perform a 3-point check, which comprises of confirming the Right Nurse, the Right Patient and the Right Order (drugs, injections, blood transfusions), and then carrying out the orders at a patient’s bedside. This helps to reduce errors and Adverse Drug Events (ADE).
– Patient Data (Entry/View): Nurses can examine patients at their bedsides and simultaneously enter data, including vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate), height, weight, etc., by connecting to the EMR system through a wireless LAN. Patient data (graphical trends, etc.) can be viewed at their bedside in real time in order for a nurse monitor a patient’s condition periodically.
– Mobile & user-friendly: An Android-based tablet with 7-inch touch screen enables nurses to easily enter patient data and view it in one sight. The well-defined user interface elements allow for easy navigation across the application. The tablet can also be easily inserted into a nurse’s coat pocket or can be held by a single hand during a patient’s bedside examination.
Currently, BSN has been integrated with major HIS vendor Jasamedika in Indonesia. It is expected that within the next few years, NEC Indonesia, together with Jasamedika, will expand the usage of the BSN to at least 10 hospitals.
“NEC’s healthcare mobile solutions ensure that hospitals can assign its most appropriate personnel to provide the correct procedures at the right point of care. NEC Indonesia is proud to be able to support the healthcare industry, including the implementation of our Bedside Nursing solution, which can be tailored to each healthcare organization’s system and needs, in order to deliver better patient care experience,” noted Takayuki Kano, President Director, PT. NEC Indonesia.
