NEC signs MoU with Karnataka government for Safe and Smart cities project


NEC India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Keonics (Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited) in order to explore the various opportunities related to Safe and Smart City technologies and cybersecurity. The objective behind this partnership is to promote economic growth in Karnataka with the help of innovative IT solutions from NEC.

Speaking about the partnership, U B Venkatesh, Chairman, Keonics, said, “Keonics, together with NEC, is proud to be able to play a role in converting Indian cities into smart, safe and world class security offerings. NEC is a global company with strong expertise in public safety solutions and we look forward to a successful partnership.”

On the other hand, Koichiro Koide, Managing Director, NEC India, commented, “We are confident that NEC’s technological capabilities, global experience and local understanding in partnership with Keonics, will bring new value to the citizens of Karnataka and India. With Karnataka’s position as a regional hub for technology and business within India, the collaboration will create new avenues of growth in the state and ensures Karnataka will continue to thrive as a scientific, economic and social center.”

NEC together with Keonics will deliver solutions for the protection against cybercrime and also to improve the security capabilities of Karnataka as well as the rest of India. Moreover, the Karnataka government also wants to use various NEC solutions for state governments and other government organizations in order to implement projects in the areas of Cybersecurity, city surveillance, criminal investigation and forensics, and systems integration.
