New Xerox MFPs are built with an innovative platform ConnectKey 2.0
Xerox has dived back into the enterprise printer segment but with a new platform innovation and security upgrades that will enhance mobile and device-less printing.
The company has announced addition of 14 new Multi-Function Printers to its portfolio with new software platform that will allow the machines to have extended capabilities. The new devices include Mono and color MFPs with speeds ranging from 20ppm to 90ppm.
Xerox, the inventor of Mouse, Ethernet and Desktop Computing, has built an ecosystem for MFPs that it says is the future of printing. ConnectKey 2.0 is a “platform-combination of technology and software that help enable true scenarios of cloud, mobility and security.” It makes the MFPs do a lot more than just conventional plug and print.
Fitted with big LCD touch screens, the software (and interface) running on them helps the printer handle myriad tasks like web, wireless, app and day, person and hour-wise restricted printing controlled seamlessly though a bunch of apps, simplifying enterprise printing.
Documents can be mailed to the printer and printed later using a password mailed back to the user; a QR code flashed on the printer screen can be used to pair a mobile device quickly for Wi-Fi direct printing (AirPrint, Google Cloud Print), scanning and language conversion; printing and scanning is also supported directly though apps for Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, Office 365, Microsoft OneDrive and other cloud solutions built on the interface itself.
Xerox says its language translation feature on the printer is an industry-first. You can put a hard copy to scan and get it printed from the new ConnectKey enabled MFP in a different language altogether. There’s a current selection of 35 languages, and expanding.
The ecosystem also includes Personalized App Builder and Xerox App Studio 3.0 that supports development of new apps and allows channel partners to tailor MFPs according to the client requirement, using easy to use templates built on a graphical interface.
The new ConnectKey technology also offers secure print and scan encryption, and print job deletion at power up, to ensure that documents remain confidential. To shield the MFPs from data breaches, Xerox has deployed McAfee protection powered by Intel Security on-board that use a filtering program to allow only approved programs to get through.
The Xerox devices have an underlying LED printing technology for higher reliability and efficiency, not to mention print speeds at par with laser printers. The color printers use a four-color CMYB system, devices include Xerox WorkCentre 7970i, WorkCentre 7830i/7835i/7845i/7855i, WorkCentre 7220i/7225i and WorkCentre 6655i color Multifunction Printers.
Monochrome printers include WorkCentre 5865i/5875i/5890i, WorkCentre 5945i/5955i and WorkCentre Multifunction Printer 3655i.
The price range of printers starts from Rs 1.3 Lacs.
