Next Generation Electric Jet Engines
Greenjets has been invited to attend the Breaking Ground Ceremony for the New Whittle Laboratory at the University of Cambridge.
The ceremony was conducted by His Royal Highness, King Charles III, and his first official engagement since his coronation.
The Whittle Laboratory is named after Sir Frank Whittle who invented and pioneered the development of the modern jet engine. He founded the Laboratory at the University of Cambridge in 1973 to tackle some of the key technical challenges in aviation to accelerate the advent of the jet age.
Today, the biggest crisis facing the aerospace industry in decarbonisation, and to tackle this crisis needs new tools, facilities, collaborators and partners. Over the last 3 years, Greenjets has been collaborating closely with the Lab (only electric propulsion company to do so) and has a number of ongoing joint research project underway.
The New Whittle Laboratory is an exciting new $58M facility setup to accelerate the transition of aviation to true net zero. Greenjets will work closely with the Laboratory to help accelerate rapid technology development and deployment.
Greenjets CEO, Anmol Manohar, was invited to this event alongside key aerospace leaders from Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Boeing, MIT and NASA. He was part of the roundtable discussions with the King to discuss how industry, academia, policy makers and the public can come together to solve this challenge.
He later commented “Our collaboration with the Whittle Laboratory is key to our joint vision of decarbonising aviation. It’s a great honour to showcase some of our products to the King who has long been a supporter of protecting the environment. His words of encouragement will inspire us to continue working at a rapid pace.”
