Reliance Jio to conduct network test ahead of 4G launch

The telecom operators are focusing hard on launching their 4G services in the country. They want to introduce the service and want to grab the attention of the consumers. Going with the trend Reliance Jio Infocomm has approached DoT in order to conduct a network test together with the security agencies ahead of its 4G launch in the country.

As reported by PTI, a company official said, “Reliance Jio has written to DoT to start test of legal interception and monitoring solution in its network across circles which is conducted along with security agencies and is mandatory before launch of telecom services.” However, the company has not yet given any official statement related to the matter.

Relaince Jio aims to roll out its 4G services in most of the telecom circles from next year. Reliance industries also revealed that it will introduce commercial 4G telecom service of RJio in 2015 with the investment of Rs 70,000 crore. In the initial phase of 4G roll out the company will cover 5,000 towns and cities, which accounts to 90 percent of urban India. The company also plans to expand the service to over 600,000 villages in the country.

Reliance Jio is the only company which has the broadband wireless access spectrum for pan-India which enables the company to introduce 4G services.  According to the rules, all the operators who possess the BWA spectrum have to roll out the 4G services in atleast 90 perent of their service areas by the end of 2015. If the operators fail to do so then DoT will have the authority to take back the radiowaves.

Presently, RJio, Aircel, Airtel, Tikona Digital and Augere Mauritius won BWA spectrum and Airtel and Aircel have introduced the 4G services partially.
