Rajesh Goenka, Chief Executive Officer, and Vishwas Kanwar, BU Head – Embedded, Rashi Peripherals Limited RP Tech discussed RP Tech’s growth, product offerings at Electronica 2024, sustainability initiatives, after-sales services, and the benefits of participating in the Electronica event.
Can you please brief us about RP Tech?
RP Tech is a 35-year-young company, established in 1989. In terms of size, we have grown to be a billion-dollar company in India, with the largest infrastructure spread across 50 cities in the country. We were publicly listed on February 14, 2024, and our listing was oversubscribed by almost 62 times. We are not only the largest but also one of the fastest-growing value-added distribution companies in India, predominantly in the ICT space, commonly referred to as IT products.
What are the products you are showcasing at Electronica 2024?
At Electronica 2024, we are showcasing products focused on key segment areas such as automotive, industrial, consumer, and telecom. Specifically, in the automotive sector, we are seeing many customers now making local decisions to design products. In this exhibition, we are demonstrating solutions for automotive lighting and automotive motor control.
Additionally, we are highlighting AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things), showcasing solutions from Nvidia, Intel, and several of our other brands.
As for how we leverage artificial intelligence and IoT in our products, we focus on offering complete solutions, which involve both hardware and software. Today, software development plays a crucial role when designers select a product. Through our team of engineers, we enable these solutions by using pre-trained models, primarily for applications like smart cities, industrial automation, and factory automation. Broadly, we focus on intelligent video analytics as a key area of development.
Do you also focus on sustainability and environmental goals?
Yes, being in the IT field, sustainability and care for the environment come naturally to us. Internally, within the organization, we have a KPI for e-waste collection. All 50 of our branches, which also serve as service centers across 50 cities in India, act as e-waste collection centers. So anyone can bring in their e-waste and deliver it to us. Additionally, we are running other initiatives aimed at raising awareness and more.
As for partnerships, since Rashi Peripherals is a value-added distributor, we do not have our own manufacturing. We source our products from global brands. Rashi Peripherals has over 60 brand associations, and in the embedded space, we currently have about 20 brand associations.
Do you also provide after-sales service of the products?
Yes, Rashi Peripherals is uniquely positioned. We don’t just plan the product supply, but we work at the design level and even engage in solution selling. Additionally, we provide after-sales services, including warranty support. All our branches also function as service centers. Many of the brands we distribute allow us to offer carry-in warranty services.
Regarding challenges, like any business, it’s not easy. Every industry has its own challenges. However, the positive aspect of the IT and semiconductor sector is that these are growing markets. With increasing digitization and local manufacturing, the business continues to expand. When the overall business grows, it provides an opportunity to grow alongside it, so we are advancing together with the business and the economy.
Are there any upcoming events or something that is planned for RP Tech in the future?
As for upcoming events, we have several initiatives planned for RP Tech in the future. Recently, we concluded our Channel Business Forum, where we organized channel roadshows and training programs in towns ranked 51st to 90th in India. This event specifically excluded the first 50 cities. This initiative is part of our solution-selling strategy and our commitment to bringing our products and solutions deeper into the country. We plan to continue similar efforts in the future.
How do you feel is Electronica event benefiting the company?
We are participating in the Electronica event because it offers a diverse mix of attendees, including not only buyers and purchasers from various organizations but also their management teams, who engage with us to discuss their roadmaps. Additionally, we see the presence of their design teams, which presents a great opportunity for them to interact with our engineers and sales team. It allows them to explore the new reference solutions RP Tech is designing. Overall, it serves as an excellent showcase, and we consider it a worthwhile investment.
