Samsung launches UIDAI complaint Galaxy Tab Iris with eye-scanning camera at Rs 13,999.

Samsung India has launched a tablet with integrated Iris technology that, it claims, can enable faster authentication which is also more accurate and stable than other biometrics.

A “Made in India and made for India” device, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris tablet has a dedicated eye scanning camera and  finds use for authentication in high security places like airports immigration, banks, exam halls or telecom use verification.

Due to its advanced biometric authentication and built in Knox security and Secure Boot, Samsung is also eyeing the government sector,  for its deployment in citizen services like pension services, verifying land records. Tab Iris is compliant with UIDAI and provides real-time authentication and instant access to financial and citizen services or databases.

Galaxy Tab Iris has a 7-inch display, runs on Android Lollipop, has a 5MP rear Auto Focus camera and a separate  IRIS camera and subsystem. The tablet has a 3600 mAh battery; supports USB OTG, 14 Indian languages and Samsung India Identity Software Development Kit. The SDK will allow development of Aadhar-complaint apps for authentication, e-KYC and e-Sign that utilize the tablet’s eye scanning capabilities.

The company has collaborated with SI and ISV partners to integrate more solution. The tablet will be available for Rs 13,999.
