Vishay Intertechnology has released two new series of optocouplers with phototriac output in compact DIP-6 and SMD-6 packages featuring high isolation distance on output.
The Vishay Semiconductors’ VOT8025A and VOT8125A series offer high off-state voltage of 800 V and dV/dt of 1000 V/μs and thus, deliver high robustness and noise isolation for home appliances and industrial equipment.
The devices released by the company isolate low voltage logic from 120 VAC, 240 VAC, and 380 VAC lines to control resistive, inductive, or capacitive loads, including motors, solenoids, high current thyristors, or TRIACs and relays.
Reducing design costs and saving board space, the devices consist of a GaAs infrared LED optically coupled to EMI reducing without needing external snubber networks, zero-crossing TRIAC (VOT8025A series) or a random-phase TRIAC (VOT8125A series) to enable phase-independent switching.
The high off-state voltages of both the VOT8025A and VOT8125A series enhance safety margins in one-phase applications while still maintaining enough voltage headroom for three-phase applications.
For additional safety, the optocouplers offer a withstanding isolation voltage of at least 5000 VRMS, while their high isolation distance on output enables a wider footprint clearance. Low trigger currents of 5 mA facilitate an easy interface with digital logic.
