TCS to establish major corporate learning center in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, INDIA: Tata Consultancy Services is setting up the world’s largest corporate learning and development center equipped with a total capacity to train 15,000 professionals at one time and 50,000 professionals annually, that is.

The proposed TCS learning campus in Thiruvananthapuram will be located on a 97-acre property in the Technopark area of the city. The campus will be built over an area of 6.1 million square feet and feature residential accommodation for professionals and faculty at the center.

Having laid the foundation stone  for the project at TCS Peepul Park, prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh reportedly said that: “The centre will contribute toward an objective that is one of our national priorities – that of imparting skills training to our young men and women on a very large scale. We recognize that it is only by doing this that we can generate opportunities for productive employment for our youth in adequate numbers, while at the same time meeting the demands of our expanding economy for a skilled work-force.”

An integral part of the project will be the skill development programs run by TCS to upgrade the skills of local youth and facilitate opportunities to work in the construction project, through contractors.

N Chandrasekaran, CEO and MD, TCS, reportedly quipped, that, “TCS has been present in Thiruvananthapuram since 1997 and since then it has been the hub of our global learning and development efforts. The TCS Learning Campus will be the new benchmark for corporate learning worldwide and this iconic facility will produce world class professionals to meet the future needs of the IT industry.”

The company’s learning programs comprises its award-winning Initial Learning Program for fresh graduate trainees along with numerous competency development and leadership development programs for middle and senior executives in the company.
