BlackBerry and Idea introduces SIM-based licensing service for enterprises

BlackBerry and Idea

BlackBerry has entered into a strategic partnership with the Indian telecom operator Idea Cellular to provide improved SIM-based licensing (ESBL) in India. With this new offering the Idea customers will be able to incorporate enterprise mobility management (EMM) service to their wireless monthly subscriber billing.

The ESBL service will support iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10. The objective of the association is to enable Idea Cellular to resell BlackBerry EMM services licensing as a bundled offer in a similar manner as MMS and SMS. This further allows the telco to provide a monthly billing model with daily proration.

As reported by Reuters, Sashi Shankar, CMO Ideal Cellular stated that, with the new ESBL service, Idea will become a hot spot for customers looking for devices, data plans and software and services. The partnership will also help the company to offer the enterprise segment with a differentiated, affordable and seamless EMM solution.
