In an effort to help people suffered in the devastating earthquake in Nepal, Indian telecom companies have announced special call rates, providing relief to all affected by the calamity. Telecom operators including Bharti Airtel, Tata Docomo , Aircel, Idea Cellular, Vodafone, MTS and a few more are charging local rates for calls to Nepal.
Bharti Airtel has offered calls made to Nepal free of cost till April 27 midnight, Tata Docomo has announced calls at one paise per second till April 28, 2015 and Aircel has also offered free calls to Nepal till April 28, 2015.
“Additionally, those customers travelling to Nepal will also get free incoming while roaming for the next 48 hours” Aircel said.
Other telecom company’s like Idea Cellular and Vodafone India have also offered call rates at Re.1/min compared to Rs. 12/min charged under normal circumstances. Idea’s offer is valid till April 28 morning while Vodafone customers can avail this facility till 10 a.m. on April 28, 2015. MTS India is also treating all calls made from its network to Nepal as local calls at Re.1/min.
This move will support the local community; enable people to reach out to their friends and family members in the earthquake impacted areas of Nepal.
