The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has fixed 29 November as the deadline for the subscribers of Loop Mobile to shift on to other networks. In the process of switching their operator the users can stick to their own number because of MNP facility. The permit of Loop Mobile is expiring on 29 November as the company failed to purchase spectrum in the last auction.
As reported by PTI, the regulator has directed Mobile Number Portability service provider “not to process the request for porting in respect of mobile telephone numbers belonging to Loop Mobile…as donor operator after 23:59:59 hours of 29th November”. The regulator has also enabled Loop Mobile to incorporate an additional service provider code ‘F’ in addition to its existing code ‘L’ to enable it to generate more than 5 lakh codes at a time.
The leading Indian telecom operator Airtel has also called off its deal of Rs 700 crore with Loop Mobiles due to the pending clearance from DoT. The Department of Telecom has stated that Loop Mobile and its sister concern Loop Telecom owe about Rs 808 crore in spectrum and other charges to the government.
