TRAI recommends no extra entry fee for full MNP service
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recommended that he full mobile number portability service should not attract additional entry fee and bank guarantee from the MNP operators. Earlier DoT has asked TRAI’s opinion on the agenda of additional entry fee, bank guarantees and clarification on the number of players’ part of the MNP service in the country.
TRAI has suggested in its earlier recommendations that the entry fee should only be taken for record. The regulator has submitted its recommendations on the issue of mobile number portability on 5 September, 2014. This year in June the Government has allowed granted in-principle approval to full MNP, which enables the customers to retain numbers even after switching operator or location. The Telecom Commission will now consider and discuss about the recommendations made by TRAI and will give its final decision on the issue.
