UQ Communications gains High Subscribers Rates with Spirent Live Network Testing

Spirent VertexSpirent Communications announces that its Spirent Landslide CORE has been deployed in the live and redundant network of mobile broadband service provider UQ Communications to leverage real-time network performance and optimization across all service nodes that constitute the UQ network.

Said to perennially analyze and fine-tune evolving networks and accommodate ever-changing use patterns, the mobile broadband provider is now able to deliver a higher subscriber experience.

Landslide CORE is touted to enable the UQ team to assure that their network is operating without error from an end-user Quality of Experience (QoE) point of view.

Historically when alarms were triggered from network nodes, they indicated the status of the nodes themselves. There was difficulty determining exactly what was happening with user traffic from the alarms alone.  Now with Landslide CORE deployed, when an emulated call fails to establish a connection or data traffic is unreachable on the Internet, this is clearly highlighted enabling necessary measures real-time.

Toshikazu Yokai, UQ Communications Corporate Officer and Director of Technology Division, and Hiroshi Tanno, Assistant Manager of IP System Section said, “Unlike competitive products, Spirent Landslide tests the performance and scalability of all points of the Live and Lab wireless network, and the mobile core network, enabling authentication and handovers scenarios to be verified, as well as providing quality of experience metrics like network availability, call setup time, call drops and voice quality for network testing. The solution’s advanced test capability for mobile networks and services emulate several millions of mobile subscribers traversing the network and using a mix real-world of applications and services.”

Landslide CORE measures, collects and provides information to UQ operator screens where all network components are displayed. Components that are degraded turn red and the problem is easily identified and responded to quickly.
