Vishay’s new BiSy 2-Line, Ultra-Low-Capacitance ESD Protection Diode Saves Board Space in Portable Electronics
Vishay Intertechnology releases a new bidirectional symmetrical (BiSy) 2-line ESD protection diode in the ultra-compact LLP1006-3L package for portable electronics.
Saving space over solutions in the SOT23 package, the Vishay Semiconductors VBUS05M2-HT1 offers:
- Ultra-low capacitance and leakage current for the protection of high-speed data lines against transient voltage signals.
- The device is said to combines a low height of < 0.4 mm with low load capacitance of 0.35 pF typical.
- Featuring a “flow through” design, the VBUS05M2-HT1 is optimized for the protection of high-speed data lines including HDMI, DisplayPort, eSATA, USB 3.0, 1394 / FireWire, and Thunderbolt in smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and wearable devices.
- The protection diode features a low maximum leakage current of < 0.1 μA at the working voltage of 5.5 V, a breakdown voltage of 8.5 V typical at 1 mA, and a maximum clamping voltage of 18 V at 3.6 A.
- The VBUS05M2-HT1 provides transient protection for data lines as per IEC 61000 4 2 at ± 20 kV (air and contact discharge).
Additionally, the device offers a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 1 in accordance with J-STD-020 and a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating, and it supports reflow soldering to +260 °C for 10 s. Soldering can be checked by a standard vision inspection, without the need for an X-ray.
The protection diode is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.
